Privacy notice

Updated 2026-10-05. Effective 2026-10-05.

This notice explains what Business Buyer School (businessbuyerschool.com), operated by Dig Inc LLC, 75 S Main Street, PMB 199, Concord, NH 03301, collects, why, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

  • Your email address, to send sign-in links and run your account.
  • Your terms acceptance: the full name you type when accepting the Terms of Use, the terms version, the date and time, and the browser type (user agent) sent with it.
  • A keyed one-way hash of your network (IP) address, used for rate limiting and for the acceptance record. We do not store the address itself.
  • Your membership: which tracks you have access to and when the access ends.
  • Payment records, when paid memberships open: the payment processor tells us the amount, date, track and a reference for each payment. We never receive or store your full card number.

What stays on your device

Your buy box, deal records, notes, decisions, Decision Records, lesson progress, quiz scores and the terms acceptance flag are saved in your own browser. We never receive them unless a page clearly says it will save something to your account. If you clear your browser data, they are gone; use the export or print options to keep a copy.

Do not put confidential seller documents or information covered by a confidentiality agreement anywhere you are not allowed to keep it.

How we use it

To send sign-in emails, keep you signed in, show you the tracks you have access to, process and record payments, and keep a record that you accepted the terms. We do not sell or rent your information, do not share it for advertising, and do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

Only the service providers that run the site for us: our web host (Hostinger), our email sending service, and, when paid memberships open, our payment processor. Each gets only what it needs to do that job. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to a buyer of the business, which would be bound by this notice.

Email

We send sign-in links when you ask for them, and account and billing emails (such as receipts, renewal reminders and cancellation confirmations). We do not add you to a marketing list without your consent, and every marketing email, if we ever send one, will have an unsubscribe link. If you type your address into the form on a research study page, the full study opens and we add the address to the Business Buyer School update list, as the line under the form says. For that we keep the address, which study it asked for, the date, the consent line you saw and a keyed one-way hash of your network address used for rate limiting. The address stays on the list until you use the unsubscribe link or ask us to delete it.

Cookies

One sign-in cookie and one terms cookie. Both are needed for the site to work. No advertising or tracking cookies, and no third-party analytics.

Retention

Account, acceptance and payment records are kept while your account exists and for a reasonable period after, for legal and tax record keeping. Sign-in links expire after 20 minutes, and used or expired links and sessions are deleted a week later.

Security

Sign-in tokens and sessions are stored only as one-way hashes, the site runs over HTTPS, and member content is served only to signed-in members. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

Children

Business Buyer School is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Your choices and rights

Email dave@businessbuyerschool.com to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete your account. If your state gives you additional privacy rights (for example California), contact us at the same address and we will honor them as the law requires. We will not treat you differently for using them.

Changes

We will post any change here with a new date. If a change is significant, we will tell signed-in members before it takes effect.

Educational use only. Not legal, tax, accounting, valuation or lending advice.

Buyer School is an independent educational website for learning about small-business acquisitions. Its lessons, examples, checklists, calculators and reports provide general information and illustrative planning estimates. They do not provide individualized legal, tax, accounting, investment, valuation or lending advice, and they do not determine SBA eligibility, financing approval or whether a particular business should be purchased. Using Buyer School does not create an advisory or other professional-client relationship. Buyer School is not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. Small Business Administration. Rules, fees, rates and lender practices can change; summaries may omit exceptions. Do not rely solely on Buyer School when evaluating, financing or purchasing a business. Before signing a letter of intent or other agreement, applying for financing, waiving a contingency or committing funds, review the current official SBA website at https://www.sba.gov, including the applicable SOP, program guidance and fee notices, and applicable IRS guidance at https://www.irs.gov, and obtain transaction-specific advice from an attorney licensed in the relevant jurisdiction, a CPA experienced in business acquisitions, and the participating lender. Consult other qualified professionals when the transaction requires them. The lender must confirm how current SBA requirements apply to the proposed financing, and licensing and permit requirements must be confirmed with the issuing authorities.
